October 2019, we formed a funding partnership with the Community Foundation of Jackson County. The goal of the partnership is to use the local foundation to administer our class gift funding drive. Working with Mr. Prange (SHS Principal), we have targeted purchasing needed equipment to outfit Seymour’s new Ag Science & Research Farm in Freeman Field. He confirmed that if the program can be strengthened, other county high schools will begin sending their Ag students to the center, too. The school has also partnered with Ivy Tech to offer an associate’s degree in agriculture for night school students. Our collection efforts are off to a great start! As of June, we have received nearly $6,000 from 10 donors, including 3 “Go Big Purple” members and 3 “Owl Club” members. As you make your yearly charitable donation decisions, please keep our class fund in mind. We have big plans to make our donation the largest ever given by a graduating class but we need your help. And, as a 501 (c) (3) fund, all donations are tax deductible.
Option One: Write a check to The Community Foundation of Jackson County and include “Class of 1970 Fund” in the memo line. Mail it to the Foundation at PO Box 1231, Seymour, IN 47274, or drop it by the Foundation office at 107 Community Drive, right across from SHS.
Option Two: Online. Go to the Foundation’s website at www.cfjacksoncounty.org. Hit the Donate tab. Enter your donation amount and follow the credit card instructions. You will be required to send a follow-up email to info@cfjacksoncounty.org stating your name and directing your contribution to the SHS Class of 1970 Fund.
Do you have questions or comments about the event? Do you need special accommodations? Send me a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
